DVRA
is proud to announce it has received the
International Reading Association's Honor
Council Award. According to the IRA
website, "The Honor Council Program annually recognizes local and
special interest councils that organize and conduct well-rounded
programs serving the council members, the community, the
state/provincial association or affiliate, and the International
Reading Association."
DVRA has been a recipient of this
award every year since the award was first presented. This is an
accomplishment that only a very few councils across the country have
achieved. Thank you to all of our members and the Advisory Board for
making DVRA such an outstanding council!
A Proud Tradition
This year DVRA is proud to
celebrate over 50 years of service in the Delaware Valley. Since its
inception in 1955, with Dr. Morton Botel as our first president,
DVRA has been active locally, nationally, and internationally,
continuously sponsoring a variety of outstanding programs in the
Delaware Valley. The finest speakers on reading in this country and
abroad have appeared at DVRA-sponsored meetings. We invite you
to join us in our celebration and our service as we continue to
celebrate 50 years of service in the Delaware Valley.

On January 12,
2008 long-time Advisory Board Member and retiring KSRA Regional
Director was honored at the Middle School Best Practices Workshop,
which will be named for her beginning in 2009. The workshops are
held at Abington Junior High School where "Ms. Crawford" taught for
many years.
Join us in promoting literacy
in the home, school, and community throughout the Delaware Valley!
